The Grand Coulee
The Grand Coulee is an ancient river bed in the Columbia River Plateau. The deluge of flood water stripped away soil, cut deep canyons and carved out 50 cubic miles (210 km3) of earth, leaving behind areas of stark scabland.
The Former Northern State Hospital
The Northern State Hospital was built to provide care to selected patients that were unable to care for themselves or to receive needed care anywhere else. Unfortunately, its unusual history damaged its legacy without the ability to acknowledge the valuable care provided to thousands of patients. Now, the beautiful campus is enjoying its new life, and is available for the public to explore and appreciate.

Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge
Near Olympia, where the Nisqually River flows into Puget Sound, is one of the most varied environments in Washington State, providing a medley of surroundings for 250 species of birds, 95 species of fish, 7 species of amphibians, and 60 species of insects. The Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge is a gift to the animals and a gift to its visitors.
Canoe Journey
On July 30th, over one hundred canoes landed at Seattle’s Alki Point as the 2023 Canoe Journey kicked off. Once all the canoes were on shore, and eight to ten thousand tribal members from around the Pacific Northwest gathered for dinner and celebration at the Muckleshoot tribe’s new Community Center. Singing, dancing, stories and gifts were part of the weeklong celebration of culture and heritage through Sunday, August 6.
US Navy Bremerton
